A new way that modeling scouts try to get your money is by going out and finding your child at local shopping malls and other public locations. They approach you and tell you how good your child looks and how they could possibly be a big star, then they give you a card and a short monologue for your child to go home and practice before they visit the "agency".

The common question that is asked is how to spot these scam artists who claim to be acting and modeling agents, it's quite simple when you call the "agency" or when you're approached by a "scout" ask them for their credentials, ask them to list some of their clients and possibly give you their contact information for verification. Most likely if you know how to spot a scam when you see one, you won't have to worry about being ripped off by these guys.

Sir Isaac Newton

Following his influential discoveries regarding gravity, Sir Isaac Newton undoubtedly earned the 17th Century equivalent of a celebrity status. However, he did not choose a particularly glittering way of life, preferring to focus all his energies on his research. It is said that Newton chose to remain a virgin throughout his life so that he would not get distracted from his work. Had STD testing been around in his day, he would not have been a suitable candidate.

Sir Cliff Richard

English singer and songwriter Sir Cliff Richard started out his career as a rock star. However, his music softened as did his lifestyle, when he converted to strict Christianity. The second of the Sirs in this article who is unlikely to need STD testing, Richard has since openly declared his Christian beliefs and his celibacy to be of great importance to him.

Lisa Kudrow

This star is best known for her role in hit sitcom 'Friends', in which she played popular character Phoebe. The character of Phoebe, who remains unmarried until the final season of the comedy show, regularly tells stories of the various dates she has been on and makes frequent allusions to her sexual escapades. As such, the character could not be more different to Lisa herself, who cherished her virginity until she was happily married. Whilst it may not have been necessary for Kudrow herself, Phoebe might well have been wise to undertake STD testing.

Jessica Simpson

This young and beautiful star left school at sixteen to pursue a singing career, and was quickly shot into the limelight. However, rather than letting the fame go to her head and allowing herself to become embroiled in the celebrity lifestyle, she soon settled down with husband Nick Lachey. She proclaimed herself to be a virgin at the time of marriage, though as Nick professed he couldn't make the same claim, he may well have gone for STD testing before they were married. Unfortunately, the couple split just three years later.

The Jonas Brothers

The youngest of our celibate celebrities, the Jonas Brothers found their fame on the Disney Channel television network. The band is made up of three brothers, all of whom have taken a vow of celibacy. The purity pledge they have taken makes the young stars stand out from many of the other bands in the industry, and they are not shy of it - each wearing a metal band to show their commitment. This young group of guys is guaranteed to cause their female followers quite some heartache, but at least they won't leave any fans requiring STD testing.

So, though the tabloids are always telling us about celebrity relationships, affairs and scandals, it seems that there have always been a few of the famous who prefer to lead a chaste life.

Celebrities - Privacy VsPublicity

Celebrities. Don't we just love them? We are a world obsessed with famous people. When we see one of our favorite actors hosting an awards show, something we normally wouldn't even think of wasting time viewing, we sit glued to our TV hanging on their every word and action, especially if we're watching a living legend. It's a moment we'll talk about for years to come, especially if we happened to be in the audience and got to see our hero live. Talk about being able to die happy.

On a recent episode of Boston Legal we saw a celebrity shoot a reporter who was about to take a photo of her because he jumped out from behind a garbage can and she was startled and thought he had a gun. She claims she shot in self defense. The question was, would the jury buy it? The prosecutor's case was that it's okay for the celebrity to get all the perks of being able to go into a fancy restaurant and be seated even without a reservation, among other things, but then they want to be a big star and have their privacy too. The defense made the case of other celebrities being assaulted, some killed even. He brought up John Lennon's murder as an example. His argument was that even celebrities have a right to some privacy.

We're not going to try to answer the question of who's right and who's wrong. The jury decided in favor of the celebrity. But that's just TV. We know that real life can be quite different. The sad truth is, celebrities are not like other people. They are constantly in the public eye, either in movies, TV, theater, radio, or whatever specialty they are involved in. Many of us would argue that they have no problem being paid $1 million for one TV episode, but try taking one lousy photo of them and they go crazy. Others would say that they are entitled to the same privacy as you or I, even though they may have a job that puts them in the public eye. After all, if you're a carpenter, nobody is following you around town trying to take your photo every five minutes.

So, what's the answer? Maybe laws need to be made. This is not suggesting that the laws be in favor of the celebrity or against. But some kind of law governing what are reasonable and unreasonable actions in regard to how much "space" a celebrity should be given when not "working". Should they be allowed to be approached in a supermarket when doing their weekly food shopping? Or should their be laws stating that they can only be approached 15 minutes before or after coming off the "set" where they work, whether it be a TV station, radio station or movie set?

Most likely laws like this will never be enacted or even if they are, enforced. That is just the way it is. It has been like this since the beginning of celebrity status. It has killed many in the past and most likely will end up killing many more before this madness is over.

Casting Director Jason La Padura Audition Advice & Tips - Part 1

Jason La Padura has been a Casting Director for almost 30 years. His long list of Television, Film & Theatre credits include High School Musical, Heroes, and Touch, to name a few. Jason started out casting theatre in New York and eventually moved to Los Angeles where he founded the renowned La Padura/Hart Casting Agency.

Jason came to speak to my students in one of my Audition Workshops recently where we taped his visit for my Video Series on "Auditioning", which I recommend every actor view to get the latest on do's and don't when it comes to a successful audition.

We discussed questions from the class such as, Is it a good idea to chat with the Casting Director before starting the audition?

Jason says, I like the actor to come in and do the work, and then chat, because he doens't want to interrupt whatever preparation they have done outside the room. After the audition, I will usually ask the actor where they are originally from? I like to know where people are from, and then I read their resume. Everything Jason says is specific to how they work at La Padura and Hart; another casting office may prefer other things.

Jason does not like props during an audition. Not even a cell phone because he's afraid it's going to go off during the read.

What about stage direction? An actor can't do all that in the audition.

"Whatever you need to do to get there emotionally. Whatever makes it true" Jason says, you do what you need to do in the audition.

Another actor asked if and when is it permissible to start an audition over?

Jason agrees, you know when you got off on the wrong foot at the top, so he doesn't mind if you stop the read at the top. If, however, you are half-way thru, you need to just get thru it because by that point, Jason has already made up his mind. He advises that you avoid comenting on your read at the end. "Maybe we thought it was good? Don't put that doubt in our head..."

Television is a personality-driven business. If you have been called in by the Casting Director, make yourself right for the part. They brought you in for a reason. If they like you, they will rewrite the character description to fit what you are doing. Jason and I have seen it done so many times.

Can the Sun Power Superman the Man of Steel in Principle

With the debut of the Superman movie, many people have taken a newfound interest in the characteristics of the Man of Steel from the planet Krypton. I am often asked by my nephews about this immensely powerful being that they sometimes catch on morning cartoons, and see in some of their favorite video games. So popular is the Man of Steel, that there've been crossovers involving powerful characters from other universes, such as the Incredible Hulk. 

The Man of Steel is out on video now, and depicts the ultimate alien hero from the defunct planet Krypton, who is widely considered to be the greatest hero of all time. 

What is the true range of his powers? What happened to his real parents? Am I going to get powers like that when I grow up? Luckily, I am able to answer most of these questions - even the most advanced one that the oldest nephew (he's eight) asked me one day: can Superman's powers really work that way, by absorbing yellow sunlight?

A brilliant question, when you think about it. And one that can, with the principles of physics, be answered. Anyone who has ever seen Superman (also called Kal-el and Clark Kent) is quite aware of the extent of his otherworldly power. 

It is explained in the comics that he obtains this energy as a result of his Kryptonian physiology, which absorbs yellow sunlight and manifests a range of abilities as a result. However, when we consider that the amount of energy that strikes the earth is just 1360 Watts per meter, and the surface area of Superman's skin is around 1.4 meters (the same as a large man), then it seems clear that he there simply isn't enough energy available to account for his world-wrecking strength, his nuclear-furnace heat vision, the virtually impregnable bioelectric field that accounts for his durability, and the gamut of his other powers.

Just think about it: you as a human absorb much of the sunlight landing on your skin; your skin reradiates it as infrared and you are warmed by the fraction that travels into your body. Now, because the area of your human skin is small compared to your volume, you don't lose as much heat as a child, for example - nor do you gain as much.

If we are to believe the comic books, this is the same amount of energy that Clark absorbs - yet, he uses it to throw around aircraft carriers and throw rocks into orbit (if you know which one requires more strength, then you're probably a physicist). So his powers just can't feasibly work as a result of the energy the sun provides at the current 93 million mile distance from the earth.

Is there a way that we might rectify this, however? Yes! Because, although the sun most certainly cannot supply Kal-El with the energy necessary to account for his profound feats (that is, he cannot be a battery that depends on solar absorption to supply him with the energy he uses; even if he operates at a 100 percent rate of conversion - which is impossible because of entropy), solar light can serve as a key for energy that is already intrinsic to his body. 

That is, all the energy that Clark uses to power his physique and abilities is already a property of his Kryptonian physiology - and light with a wavelength of 590 nanometers (the very definition of yellow) comprises a resonance level. When yellow light is incident, his body responds by unleashing a host of latent abilities.

Can A DICOM Viewer Change Your Medical Work Life

Medical facilities both large and small began taking advantage of radiological images with film-based systems initially. Eventually, digital imagery became available, and like all new technology, at the start it came at a very high price. This meant that only the largest medical facilities and hospitals could afford to use digital imaging. Now that has all changed. With the tremendous price drops in all types of digital technology, now more than ever small and mid-sized medical facilities can enjoy the benefits that come from digital imaging just as the large facilities have. The first part of the digital imaging process has to do with acquiring the image. This occurs through CR or DR imaging systems. Camelot Is a Magical Movie, and a Primer in Civilized Human Relationships and Growth

Camelot 4 Stars (Excellent)

"Camelot" is a wonderful Broadway musical that garnered Oscars for Best Art Direction, Best Costume Design and Best Music, and Oscar nominations for Best Cinematography and Best Sound. In other words, Camelot was a superb technical triumph in its day.

Camelot also won Golden Globes for Richard Harris for Best Actor (as King Arthur), Frederick Loewe for Best Original Score, and both Frederick Loewe (music) and Alan Jay Lerner (lyrics) for Best Original Song "If Ever I Should Leave You".

Golden Globe nominations also went to Camelot for Best Picture, to Vanessa Redgrave for Best Actress (as Guenevere) and to Franco Nero for the Most Promising Newcomer (as Lancelot Du Lac).

The cast was superb and included David Hemmings (as Mordred, who looked as slimy and cunning as possible), Lionel Jeffries (as King Pellinore) and Laurence Naismith (as Merlyn, the Magician).

Joshua Logan directed this film like a beautiful flower coming into blossom where it is planted only to be destroyed by fire.

Camelot, released in 1967, celebrates its 40th anniversary this October, and was based on the 1960 musical play Camelot written by Alan Jay Lerner with music by Frederic Loewe.

The play was based on the King Arthur legend as adapted from the T. H. White novel "The Once and Future King" and ran on Broadway for 873 performances. To say the least, it was well received.

The original cast for the play included Richard Burton as King Arthur, Julie Andrews as Queen Guenevere, Robert Goulet as Sir Lancelot, Roddy McDowell as Mordred, Robert Coote as King Pellinore and David Hurst as Merlyn with Moss Hart as the Director.

Camelot became a modern day legend when it was immortalized-after President John F. Kennedy's assassination on November 22, 1963-by revealing that the show's original cast recording had been the favorite bedtime listening in the White House. Kennedy's favorite lines were in the final number (when King Arthur knights a young boy and tells him to pass on the story of Camelot to future generations):

Don't let it be forgot,

That once there was a spot,

For one brief, shining moment

That was known as Camelot.

Since then, Camelot has been associated with the Kennedy administration, and the glory and the tragedy of the Kennedy family. Kennedy was the youngest elected President, the first Roman Catholic President, and the youngest President to die.

The following synopsis of Camelot from wikipedia.com is important in setting the stage for what I am about to reveal to you (the songs to accompany the scene are in parentheses):

"Guenevere arrives in Camelot on a wintry morning to marry King Arthur (of England) and is greeted festively by the Court. Arthur, shy and nervous, hides in the nearby woods ("I Wonder What the King is Doing Tonight?").

"Guenevere comes to the woods, uncertain about herself and her future ("The Simple Joys of Maidenhood"). She stumbles into Arthur, who tells her about life in Camelot ("Camelot"), and then discloses his identity. They are each happily charmed by the other.

"Arthur learns from Merlyn the wisdom of peace and brotherhood, and is inspired to establish the Round Table. The news of this reaches young Lancelot in France, who is determined to come to Camelot and join Arthur's knights ("C'est Moi").

"A May Day celebration takes place on the castle grounds ("The Lusty Month of May"), where Arthur introduces his wife to Lancelot. Guenevere takes an instant dislike to the cocky young man and (challenges) him to engage three knights of the Round Table in a jousting match ("Then You May Take Me to the Fair"). Arthur is dismayed by this and (is) at a loss to understand a woman's way ("How to Handle a Woman").

"In the jousting match Lancelot easily defeats all three knights, drawing the admiration of them all, including Guenevere. Lancelot falls in love with (Queen) Guenevere and is torn by the conflict between this love and his devotion to Arthur. He asks permission to leave Camelot for foreign conquests.

"Returning two years later, Arthur makes him a Knight of the Round Table. Arthur is painfully aware of the feelings between Lancelot and Guenevere but remains silent to preserve the tranquility of Camelot.

"Lancelot reveals his feelings to Guenevere ("If Every I Would Leave You"). Nevertheless, she remains faithful to Arthur, and helps him in carrying out the affairs of State ("What Do Simple Folks Do?").

"Mordred, Arthur's illegitimate son, comes to Camelot to dishonor the King and try to gain the throne for himself. He schemes . . . to trap Arthur in a forest one night. During the night, Lancelot visits Guenevere in her chambers, where she reveals her love for him ("I Loved You Once in Silence").

"Mordred and some of the Knights of the Round Table interrupt, accuse Lancelot of treachery, and imprison him. Lancelot escapes, but Guenevere is sentenced to burn ("Guenevere"). At the last moment, Lancelot rescues her and takes her off with him to France.

"For the sake of his own honor and that of Camelot, Arthur must now wage war on France. Just before the final battle, he meets Lancelot and Guenevere, and forgives them both.

"In camp, Arthur meets a young stowaway who wants to join the Round Table. Arthur knights him on the field of battle and sends him back to England to grow up there and pass on to future generations the ideals of Camelot."

Two side notes and then my revelation.

First, the song "If Ever I Would Leave You" (erroneously called "If Ever I Should Leave You" in the Golden Globe citation) was nominated and won in the category Best Original Song Written for a Motion Picture, even though it was not written especially for the film.

It was written for the original stage production of Camelot, and all the other nominees were songs especially written for films. This is the only instance in the history of the Golden Globe Awards that this has happened.

Second, even though Richard Burton won a Tony for Best Actor in the stage play and was offered the same part as King Arthur in the film, he turned it down. Richard Harris was magnificent in his performance as King Arthur in the film.

And the revelation? Camelot the play and Camelot the film were both truly inspirational musical productions, but I submit that the story Camelot was much more.

I felt in my heart that Camelot was also a primer in civilized human relationships and personal growth as well as a step forward for humanity. Let me explain.

When King Arthur realizes the relationship between his Queen and his chief knight, he says this, reacting like a man:

"I love them and they answer me with pain and torment. Be it sin or not sin, they betray me in their hearts and that's far sin enough. I can feel it in their eyes. I can feel it when they speak, and they must pay for it and be punished. I shall not be wounded and not return it in kind! I'm through with feeble hoping! I demand a man's vengeance!

When he calms down and says this, reacting like a king:

"Proposition: I'm a king, not a man. And a very civilized king. Could it possibly be civilized to destroy the (ones) I love? Did they ask for this calamity? Can passion be selected?"

In the end, King Arthur takes the high road. He would not punish either of them given his druthers, he realizes he still loves Guenevere and loves his best friend and knight, Lancelot, as a brother.

He cannot, however, stop Guenevere from burning at the stake for her indiscretion. He enlists his confidant King Pellinore to watch and see if Lancelot will attempt to rescue her in time. Thankfully, Lancelot does.

King Arthur sees the wisdom of the Round Table, bringing the knights of the kingdom together to protect the weak rather than fight among themselves at the expense of the weak.

King Arthur sees the wisdom of a legal system that gives the accused his day in court rather than fighting for his life in a duel whether the accused is guilty or innocent. Poor King Pellinore does not understand or accept this precursor to rule by law rather than rule by might.

King Arthur uses his love to overcome his pain and suffering and ultimately loses not only the love of his life but his best friend.

And, most important, despite going into a battle he may well lose and perhaps even die, he has the presence of mind to knight a young man to carry his hope into the future, so his vision will continue.

Building Your Own Gold Prospecting Equipment

A friend and I have recently developed a passion for gold prospecting -- not simply the act of finding gold, but also the engineering behind gold finding methods, building custom equipment that's lighter and more efficient than the expensive specialty gold prospecting equipment found online. Though it's definitely an odd hobby :) there's nothing like hiking down to a river with a pick-axe, shovel, and random lightweight plastic home-assembled gold prospecting tools, and spending the day in the beauty of nature to see what treasures wait to be found. But more on that later. For now, lets get down to the basics of gold prospecting equipment.

The two most common pieces of equipment in gold prospecting are the gold pan, and the sluice box. Gold pans are cheap, anywhere from 5-15 dollars. Black plastic is what I prefer. The gold shows up perfectly against the black. Sluice boxes, on the other hand, can get a bit pricey. Building a sluice is actually a lot simpler than it sounds. Using pieces of plastic cut into simple geometric shapes (squares and rectangles) we build a very lightweight sluice box from plastic simply by gluing the pieces together with plastic cement and waiting 24 hours. For plans on building your own sluice box, one simply has to type in "sluice box plans" into google and they'll find dozens of step by step instructions on how to build their very own gold catching contraption. A sluice box is simple, it's a box, for crying out loud. Who can't build a box? Some outfitters try and sell you on lightweight airplane aluminum and other nonsense, charging hundreds of dollars for a sluice box, but why pay the money when you can literally build most of the gold prospecting equipment you'll need for a matter of a few dollars in materials.

But back to the sluice box for a moment. Lightweight plastic is easy to work with. As long as one doesn't buy sheets more than a quarter inch thick, it can be reasonably cut with an exacto blade. Add to that the cost of a bottle of plastic cement and you'll have your very own sluice box in a matter of a few hours and whatever other pieces of gold prospecting equipment you'll need.

The only thing left to do is find a river that has a reasonable amount of gold still hiding away. In California, that's pretty easy to do. Rivers with gold are peppered throughout northern and southern California. Other places might have less abundance, but hopefully if you're reading this, it's because you already know of a place you want to check out.

The Second Golden Age of Animation is creating enormous revenues from both box office gross to billions of dollars in sales generated by all manner of kids' products spinning off from Intellectual Properties aimed at the kiddy market, products that range from the bizarre (Spongebob) to the sublime (Harry Potter).

When was the First Golden Age of Animation? This was a period in American animation history beginning in 1928 that began with the introduction of sound cartoons. It continued into the early 1960s when the introduction of this new medium of television animation drew audiences away from cinemas. It was during these years that an impressive number of Animation Properties came into being; such characters as Tom and Jerry, Superman, Woody Woodpecker, Felix the Cat as well as a huge range of Disney characters.

Betrayal When Someone You Love Betrays You

It is bad enough when a stranger or foe betrays you, but when it is someone you believed to be a close and trusted friend, partner, or spouse, it is especially hurtful. It might feel like you were taken advantage of, deceived, humiliated, despised, cheated, or stabbed in the back. Oftentimes it comes as a surprise. That is why it is so painful. You would not expect to be hurt so badly from someone you thought you could trust. So you are left in disbelief and unbelievable pain.

Anyone who has experienced betrayal in a relationship knows how difficult it is to recover from such an experience. The person you thought you could trust and count on is no longer the person you believed them to be. So you wonder what happened. Were you just wrong about them all along or did something change? Maybe your relationship changed and so did their loyalty to you. Maybe something in either or both of your lives has changed and they became insensitive to you. Or, maybe you both grew apart and in different directions.

There are many reasons that cause people to betray one another. Sometimes they are very deliberate and intended to hurt the other person. And sometimes they are consequences of choices that are made with no intention of doing any harm to anyone. Looking out for ones own best interests can cause some people to disregard relationships they once valued. They may feel the relationship is in the way or not as important anymore. Feelings change. And as feelings change so do ones actions and choices. An individual that feels their needs are not being met in a relationship might feel that the relationship is no longer important or worth investing in. Therefore, they might seek to get their needs met elsewhere. This changes the relationship. Eventually, it grows apart and opportunities for betrayal emerge.

Betrayal is a destructive force that leaves many ruins in its path. Betrayal changes everything. Relationships and all those affected will never be the same again. The damage done can be irreparable. Trust is lost. Wounds run deep. Anger persists. Hearts are broken. Self-protective walls are erected. Pain is long and lasting. And we wonder. Can trust ever be restored? Do wounds ever heal? Will anger cease to exist? Can hearts be repaired? Will the self-protective walls ever come down? Does the pain ever go away?

Not only does betrayal change relationships, it changes individuals. Something happens inside of them. They might find it difficult to ever trust again. They might be more guarded and protective of themselves for fear of being vulnerable again. They might learn to be more discerning and less nave. Their expectations of others may change. They may reflect on their own role and responsibility in the relationship and what went wrong. They might try to understand, empathize, and forgive. They may be motivated to grow from the experience and learn more about themselves and others.

The pain of betrayal is very real and has a significant impact on the lives of all those who have experienced it. It is one of those painful life experiences that have the power to change peoples hearts and lives forever. If you have ever been betrayed, you cannot change what has happened to you or make the pain go away. You need time to grieve and feel angry. You need time to be comforted and encouraged. You also need time to restore your faith in yourself and others. Betrayal hurts and there is no fast and easy way to heal from its affects. It takes more than time. It takes a heart that will not harden. It takes a commitment to believe in others again. Relationships do change as a result of betrayal; but ultimately, how it changes you is what matters most.

These tall majestic beauties stand proud as if guarding the King's treasure. The forest is teeming with the animals that are waiting to be immortalized on film. Wildlife photography is a great way to get your name and brand seen on the Internet. Everybody likes a picture of the antics of small furry creatures in their natural habitat.

Arizona is a great place for a variety of photographic opportunities. It has several different types of terrain and a lot of historical presence.
